The World Kindness Movement

Our Story

The World Kindness Movement is an international movement with no political, commercial, or religious affiliations. It all began at a conference in Tokyo in 1997 when Japan brought together like-minded kindness organizations from around the world.

WKM is now recognized as the peak global body for Kindness that provides a platform for collaboration and sharing. The mission of the TWKM is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness by connecting nations to create a kinder world.

The World Kindness USA has been a founding member of this movement since 1997 thanks to our CEO Mr. Will Glennon, also the founder of Random Acts of Kindness. Other members of the movement include over 27 nations with representatives from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea,Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.

The World Kindness USA objectives

  • To provide a national platform for collaboration to support the global campaign for a Kinder World.
  • To share ideas and experiences of kindness with and from our members programs in different cities and in all sectors of the community.
  • To positively engage, inspire, and Influence all so that a Kinder World is blossomed.
  • To ensure Kindness is on the agenda, and actively encourage participation from our classrooms all the way to our government.
  • To ensure the messaging around “Kindness” is never mistaken for weakness.
  • To ensure Kindness is on the National Agenda as we encourage all US cities to have Conversations In Kindness, embed a culture of kindness and support them to become officially recognized and internationally endorsed, and listed as a “World Kindness City”.
  • Support and promote our members’ activities and kindness campaigns where ever possible.
  • To see our government pass a bill and legislation to support the campaign with the official signing of a bipartisan, co-sponsored Declaration of Support for A Kinder World.
  • To have World Kindness Day on November 13th officially recognized on the National Calendar.
  • To see our government co-sponsor a motion at the full sitting of the United Nations to unanimously have its members resolve to sign a Declaration of Support for a Kinder World.
